Reasons why bibliophiles loves to read?

Being an avid reader, I was always surrounded by people asking me, ‘why do I read so much?’ or ‘I should find a new hobby’ and even ‘if I am stressed about something?’.

Explaining that reading is entertainment for me doesn’t help as they enjoy going out with friends, attending parties, or going live on their social media accounts instead.

What they didn’t know was the fact that no matter what a book is about, who is the protagonist, or even if the conflicts in the book are un-relatable to you, still that book, or precisely any book is a reflection of you.

So, I compiled a few points I learned from reading books, which weren’t the part of my curriculum, to put forward for all the non-readers, on the behalf of every individual who loves to read.

#1 The end is always happy

Things aren’t going the way you planned? You think you can’t achieve what you have always desired and are going to be miserable forever?

What you are unaware of is that it is only part 1 of the series of your life. A sequel is in making.  All you need to do is keep moving, doesn’t matter at what pace, just keep moving.  After all, Paulo Coelho in The Alchemist made it clear that the universe is there to back you up.

When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it” ~ Paulo Coelho (The Alchemist)

#2 Flaws are not failures

Mr. Bingley from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice falls for the words of Mr. Darcy and almost loses the girl he loves.

Does that make him a failure

He is supper rich yet extremely humble and was able to see how wrong his opinion was about his fiance. Mr. Bingley isn't a failure because his flaws aren't his failures. And the same goes for you.

#3 Being weird is awesome

"You're just as sane as I am" ~ Luna Lovegood

Luna Lovegood is one of the most liked characters in the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling, yet she’s the weirdest character ever. She never really cared about how she is supposed to act.

Luna remained true to herself. She taught us to be whatever we want. After all, being able to be ourselves without any fear is true happiness.

#4 Hindrances are plot twists

In Oscar Wilde’s The Carterville Ghost when the Otis family arrived at their new home, they weren’t expecting to become acquaintance with the centuries-old Lord Simon. As it turns out, the readers couldn't stop themselves from laughing out loud with every failed comical attempt of Lord Simon to horrify the Otis.

Similarly, all the obstacles you are facing today are nothing but plot twist, at which you will laugh in the future.

Conclusion:

"Book knows us more than we know ourselves. You are stuck in a situation, or facing a dilemma, read a book and you will find a couple of solutions."

You now know why your reader friend reads, so don't ask this question again and again, when it's obvious that you will get the same answer. Better, experience it yourself.

So, what are you waiting for?

Go find yourself a book and start reading.
